I'm not trying to be rude, but some of what you said in that post is inaccurate. Title IX only refers to Greek sororities and fraternities, but there are plenty of other Greek Letter Organizations that aren't part of councils. They're still fraternities and sororities, but since they're not part of a council they're not Greek. These orgs (ΑΦΩ ΑΚΨ...) have co-ed membership, and are still fraternities, they're just not Greek. I just wanted to let you know that there's to Greek life than Panhel/IFC
Those are not the organizations being affected by by this title. That’s is what I was saying already co-ed organizations can’t become more co-ed. I am referring to single sex fraternities and sororities not honors organizations. Yes there are local single sex sororities and fraternities that are also in risk of being changed. I don’t understand what you are saying because I never said anything about those organizations…
I received a post talking about how a sorority woman felt closer to her “little brother” than her little sister. I am sorry to say that I can not publish this post because of political actions happening in Washington right now. I don’t know if you are aware but the government is attempting to make sororities and fraternities into one group. The no longer want single sex organizations. This is called Title IX.
No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance…
—United States Code Section 20,
The reason I can’t post is because there are not supposed to be any “intermingling” between sororities and fraternities of this kind. I know this post may seem counter productive because it is still talking about the fact that “littles” from a sorority to a fraternity or vice versa, but I want people to be aware. There are many other activities that are being used to build a case for the merging of sororities and fraternities. As sorority women we should not take part in any party of fraternity’s recruitment or rush. This also means that they may not participate in any of our recruitment. Also any person in Greek Life should not be wearing a shirt that supports one specific fraternity/sorority unless it is your own or you are lavaliered. There should be no Brother or Sister Sororities/Fraternities. These are just some things that anyone in Greek Life should not be doing. If you have questions you can ask your Panhellenic Representative or your IFC person (sorry I don’t know the correct term). This is what I’ve learned and I think I am mostly correct. Just something to keep in the back of your minds.
Hey I love all of the confessions! (ya’ll are keeping me busy!) Also I’m glad more of you are requesting colors! I was wondering if anyone would be interested in creating a new template? Feel free to submit one. I will be picking one or creating a new one in the next few weeks. Have a great weekend!
